Editorial Process and Peer Review Policy
All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Integrated Socio-Economic Systems and Islamic Finance (JISSIF) undergo a rigorous editorial assessment and double-blind peer-review process to ensure the publication of high-quality scholarly research.
1. Initial Submission
Following submission, the corresponding author receives an acknowledgement confirming that the manuscript has been successfully received by the Journal.
The editorial office performs a preliminary administrative review to verify that the submission complies with the Journal's requirements, including manuscript formatting, completeness of submission files, ethical declarations, authorship information, funding disclosures, and adherence to the Author Guidelines.
Submissions that are incomplete or fail to meet the Journal's basic requirements may be returned to the authors for correction before entering the editorial review process.
2. Editorial Assessment
Once the initial compliance check has been completed, the manuscript is assigned to the Editor-in-Chief or an appropriate Handling Editor for preliminary evaluation.
During this stage, the editor assesses whether the manuscript:
Falls within the scope of the Journal.
Demonstrates sufficient scholarly quality and originality.
Meets acceptable standards of scientific or academic rigor.
Complies with the Journal's ethical and editorial policies.
Manuscripts that do not satisfy these criteria may be declined without external peer review (desk rejection). In such cases, the corresponding/submitting author will be informed of the editorial decision together with the principal reasons for rejection.
Manuscripts considered suitable for further evaluation proceed to external double-blind peer review.
3. Reviewer Selection
The Handling Editor appoints a minimum of two independent reviewers with expertise relevant to the manuscript's subject area. Where appropriate, a member of the Editorial Board may also participate in the review process.
All reviewers are expected to conduct their evaluations in accordance with the Journal's Reviewer Guidelines and editorial policies. To promote transparency without hindering publication schedule Journal of Integrated Socio-Economic Systems and Islamic Finance (JISSIF) execute every possible step to be vigilant about potential conflicts of interest, however, guaranteeing that our Editors are aware of all competing interests of reviewers is beyond truthfulness. Therefore, we appeal our reviewers to report to the Editor-in-Chief/Handling Editor if they note any potential competing interest during the course of a manuscript review process. Moreover, reviewers’ own conflict of interest with the content or authors of the manuscript should also be conveyed to the editors. If the assigned editor will find it appropriate to remove the reviewer, weighing the type and extent of the conflict, other reviewers will be contacted for the review.
The Journal follows a double-blind peer-review system in which the identities of both authors and reviewers remain confidential throughout the review process. The identity of reviewers is known only to the editorial office. Written review reports are normally requested within four weeks of acceptance of the review invitation.
Submitting authors can suggest the names of 3 scholars of the field as reviewers, or they may make request to exclude some specific reviewer for reviewing their article (along with the reason of this exclusion)however, it will be considered only as a request and the final selection of reviewers will be made by the handling editors of the journals.
4. Editorial Decision
After all reviewer reports have been received, the Handling Editor evaluates the reviewers' recommendations together with the overall quality and suitability of the manuscript before making an editorial recommendation.
The final publication decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief or the designated Handling Editor. Editorial decisions generally fall into one of the following categories:
Accept
Minor Revision
Major Revision
Reject
Authors receive the editorial decision together with anonymized reviewer comments and any recommendations for improving the manuscript.
5. Revision Process
Where revisions are required, authors are invited to submit a revised manuscript within the deadline specified by the editor.
Authors should address every reviewer comment individually and clearly indicate the revisions made in response to the review.
Following resubmission, the Handling Editor may:
Accept the revised manuscript.
Conduct an independent editorial assessment.
Return the manuscript to one or more of the original reviewers for further evaluation.
Where additional revisions remain necessary, the manuscript may undergo further review. To maintain an efficient editorial process, manuscripts are normally permitted a maximum of three rounds of revision.
6. Production and Proofreading
Following final acceptance, the manuscript enters the production stage, which includes copyediting, typesetting, formatting, and quality assurance.
The corresponding author receives page proofs (galley proofs) for final review before publication. Proofs should be checked carefully for typographical errors, formatting issues, and minor corrections. Authors are normally requested to return corrected proofs within seven days of receipt. Only essential corrections should be made at this stage, as substantial alterations to the accepted manuscript are generally not permitted.
7. Online Publication
Once the corrected proofs have been received and finalized, the article proceeds to publication. Accepted articles are published online in the earliest available issue of the Journal, ensuring the timely dissemination of scholarly research.
Authorship Policy
Eligibility for Authorship
Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research and the preparation of the manuscript. Qualifying contributions may include the conception of the study, research design, data acquisition, data analysis, interpretation of findings, or drafting and critically revising the manuscript.
All listed authors should have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript and agreed to its submission for publication. Each author shares responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of the published work. Contributors whose involvement does not meet the criteria for authorship should not be listed as authors. Their assistance may instead be recognized in the Acknowledgements section with their permission.
Journal of Integrated Socio-Economic Systems and Islamic Finance (JISSIF) does not determine or arbitrate disputes relating to authorship, including the inclusion, exclusion, or sequence of authors. Responsibility for resolving such matters rests entirely with the authors and their affiliated institutions. Where an authorship dispute arises before publication, the Journal reserves the right to suspend editorial processing or decline publication until the dispute has been fully resolved and written agreement has been provided by all affected authors.
Corresponding Author Responsibilities
One author must be designated as the Corresponding Author for every submission except for single-authored submissions.
The Corresponding Author is responsible for:
Managing all communication with the Journal throughout the submission, peer-review, and publication process.
Confirming that all co-authors meet the authorship criteria.
Ensuring that every listed author has approved the final manuscript and consented to its submission.
Verifying the accuracy of author names, affiliations, and the order in which authors are presented.
Coordinating responses to editorial queries and reviewer comments.
Acting as the primary contact after publication regarding questions related to the article.
Author Contribution Statement
To promote transparency and accountability, every manuscript must include an Author Contributions section describing the specific role of each author in the study.
Depending on the nature of the research, contributions may include, but are not limited to:
Conceptualization
Study Design, Methodology
Data Collection, Curation, Formal Analysis and Validation
Software Development
Project Administration, Supervision
Funding Acquisition
Writing – Original Draft, Review, Editing
The contribution statement should accurately reflect each author's involvement in the research and manuscript preparation.
Authorship Disputes
Any authorship dispute identified during the editorial or publication process will be managed in accordance with established publication ethics and the Journal's editorial policies. The Journal reserves the right to request appropriate supporting documentation from the authors and to suspend the review, acceptance, or publication process until the matter has been fully resolved to the satisfaction of the editorial office.
Disclosure of Financial Support
Authors are required to provide complete details of all financial support received for the research presented in the manuscript. This includes funding from governmental bodies, universities, research institutions, charities, or commercial organizations. The funding statement should specify the name of each funding agency together with the corresponding grant or award number, if available. Authors must also disclose whether the funding source had any involvement in the study design, data acquisition, data analysis, interpretation of results, preparation of the manuscript, or the decision to submit the manuscript for publication.
Conflict of Interest
“A competing interest/conflict of interest is something that actually interferes with or may be seen as an interfering factor in the presentation, peer review, editorial handling, or publication of a submitted article. Competing Interest may be present in the form of financial, nonfinancial, professional, or personal perspectives.”
A conflict of interest may arise when the author or author’s institution may have a financial, non-financial, and personal or any other association with the publisher or the people involved in the publishing process, which may influence integrity of the author’s work. Authors should declare any conflict of interest at the time of submission of manuscript or at the earliest possible stage after its recognition. Examples of potential conflicts of interest which should be disclosed include employment, consultancies, stock ownership, and allowances, paid expert testimony, past and present affiliations, or other funding. The mention of such interests does not make the manuscripts unethical, but they should be acknowledged.
In case of no conflict, the authors are required to include this in their manuscripts as well, clearly stating “The authors declare no conflict of interest”.
Archiving/Digital Data Preservation:
Journal of Integrated Socio-Economic Systems and Islamic Finance (JISSIF) (JISSIF) is committed to maintaining the long-term accessibility and preservation of all published articles. To safeguard scholarly content against technical failures or other unforeseen circumstances, all publications of JISSIF are archived through the LOCKSS system via the PKP Preservation Network , ensuring secure and permanent digital preservation.
Repository/Self-archiving policy:
Journal of Integrated Socio-Economic Systems and Islamic Finance (JISSIF) also supports authors’ self-archiving and permits authors to deposit the accepted/published version of their manuscripts in institutional, disciplinary, or other recognized repositories following its online publication. Authors who self-archive their work are required to acknowledge JISSIF as the original source of publication and include a link to the official published version available on JISSIF’s website.
Declaration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use
The Journal recognizes that artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies are increasingly being used to support academic writing and manuscript preparation. Such tools may be used for limited purposes, including improving grammar, spelling, language quality, readability, and overall clarity of the manuscript. AI technologies should be used only as writing aids and must not replace the authors' intellectual contributions, scientific reasoning, critical analysis, or independent scholarly judgment. Authors are responsible for ensuring that all interpretations, analyses, conclusions, and scientific claims presented in the manuscript are their own.
The Journal does not permit the use of generative AI to produce original scholarly content, formulate research hypotheses, generate or manipulate research data, perform scientific interpretation, draw conclusions, or prepare substantial sections of a manuscript without meaningful human authorship and oversight.
Authors remain fully accountable for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and authenticity of all content submitted for publication, irrespective of whether AI-assisted technologies were used during manuscript preparation.
Disclosure of AI Use
If AI or AI-assisted technologies have been used for purposes beyond routine language editing, authors must provide a transparent statement describing the nature, purpose, and extent of such use. This disclosure should be included in the cover letter submitted with the manuscript and, where appropriate, in the manuscript itself.
AI and Authorship
Artificial intelligence tools cannot be credited as authors because they are unable to assume responsibility for the integrity of the work, approve the final version of the manuscript, disclose conflicts of interest, or fulfill the ethical responsibilities required of authorship. Accordingly, AI systems or AI-assisted technologies must not be listed as authors or co-authors of any manuscript submitted to the Journal.
Author Responsibility
Given the rapidly evolving use of AI in scholarly publishing, authors are expected to use these technologies responsibly, exercise appropriate human oversight, and maintain complete transparency regarding their use. All manuscripts must comply with the Journal's publication ethics, authorship policies, and standards of research integrity, regardless of whether AI-assisted tools have been employed during manuscript preparation.

DATA FALSIFICATION/FABRICATION POLICY:
Journal of Integrated Socio-Economic Systems and Islamic Finance (JISSIF) does not permit any form of data falsification (Manipulating, altering, omitting, or misrepresenting real data, methods, or results to produce a desired outcome.) or fabrication (Making up data, results, observations, or experiments that never actually existed) in submitted manuscripts. This includes, but is not limited to, the intentional creation, alteration, or misrepresentation of research data or findings.
Unethical practices may involve manipulation of images, selective omission of unfavorable results, or the addition, deletion, or modification of data points in tables, figures, or illustrations. Such actions compromise research integrity and are strictly prohibited.
Limited technical enhancement of complete (non-partial) images for clarity or improved readability may be acceptable; however, such modifications must be clearly disclosed in the cover letter at the time of submission.
Editors are expected to follow the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines when handling cases involving suspected data falsification in submitted manuscripts. In situations where data fabrication is identified after publication, Journal of Integrated Socio-Economic Systems and Islamic Finance (JISSIF) addresses the issue promptly and takes appropriate action in accordance with COPE standards to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.
POLICY ON SALAMI PUBLICATION (SALAMI SLICING):
Salami publication, also known as salami slicing, which refers to the practice of dividing a single substantial research study into multiple smaller manuscripts with overlapping data, methods, or findings in order to increase the number of publications.
Journal of Integrated Socio-Economic Systems and Islamic Finance (JISSIF) does not permit salami publication (salami slicing) as such practices are considered unethical when they result in redundant, fragmented, or misleading publication of research that could otherwise be presented as a single comprehensive study. Significant overlap in datasets, study design, methodology, or conclusions across multiple submissions without clear justification or disclosure are considered as indicators of salami publication.
Authors are required to ensure that each submitted manuscript represents a complete, original, and scientifically independent contribution. Where related or overlapping studies exist, authors must clearly disclose this in the cover letter and manuscript, with appropriate cross-referencing to related work. We encourage our authors to present research findings in a comprehensive and transparent manner to ensure scientific integrity, avoid redundancy in the literature, and maintain the quality of scholarly communication.
Journal of Integrated Socio-Economic Systems and Islamic Finance (JISSIF) follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines in identifying and handling cases of suspected salami publication. Manuscripts found to be improperly segmented may be rejected during review, and published articles may be subject to editorial action, including correction or retraction where necessary.
POLICY ON DUPLICATE PUBLICATION:
Duplicate publication refers to the submission or publication of a manuscript that extensively overlaps with a work that has already been published, is under review elsewhere, or has been previously submitted without appropriate disclosure. This also includes republishing previously published content in another language or format without transparent disclosure and proper permission.
Journal of Integrated Socio-Economic Systems and Islamic Finance (JISSIF) considers duplicate publication a serious breach of publication ethics and does not accept manuscripts that have been previously published in whole or in part, except in cases where prior publication is explicitly disclosed and justified (e.g., conference abstracts or preliminary reports), and where appropriate permission and citation are provided.
Authors are required to confirm that their submission is original, has not been published elsewhere, and is not under consideration by any other journal. Any related or overlapping submissions must be clearly declared at the time of submission.
The journal follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines in handling suspected cases of duplicate publication. If duplication is detected before publication, the manuscript may be rejected. If identified after publication, the journal reserves the right to issue a correction, notify relevant institutions, or retract the article, depending on the severity of the case.
POLICY ON CITATION MANIPULATION:
Journal of Integrated Socio-Economic Systems and Islamic Finance (JISSIF) is committed to maintaining integrity, transparency, and fairness in scholarly communication and strictly prohibits all forms of citation manipulation (excessive self-citation without scholarly justification, coordinated citation agreements between authors or journals, forced citation requests by reviewers or editorial staff, or the inclusion of irrelevant references solely to increase citation counts).
Authors are expected to ensure that all cited references are relevant, necessary, and directly support the content of the manuscript. Citations must be included solely on the basis of academic merit and not to artificially enhance citation metrics.
Reviewers and editors are also required to avoid requesting unnecessary citations to their own work or to any specific journal unless it is clearly justified for scholarly reasons.
Journal of Integrated Socio-Economic Systems and Islamic Finance (JISSIF) follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines in addressing suspected cases of citation manipulation. Where evidence of such practices is identified, appropriate actions may be taken, including rejection of the manuscript, publication of corrections, or retraction of published articles, depending on the severity of the case. In serious instances, relevant institutions or indexing bodies may also be informed.
To ensure compliance with ethical standards and to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record Journal of Integrated Socio-Economic Systems and Islamic Finance (JISSIF) reserves the right to monitor citation patterns.

If discovered during the publishing process the Authorship disputes will be addressed by the journal in a fairly and transparent way in accordance with established publication ethics guidelines. JISSIF reserves the right to request supporting documentation and to suspend the review or publication process until authorship issues have been satisfactorily resolved.
4. Conflict of Interest Management
Journal of Integrated Socio-Economic Systems and Islamic Finance (JISSIF) is committed to maintaining transparency, impartiality, and integrity throughout the publication process. Such disclosures may include financial interests, funding arrangements, employment, consultancies, professional collaborations, institutional affiliations, personal relationships, or any other competing interests relevant to the manuscript under consideration. All disclosed conflicts will be evaluated by the journal’s team and managed appropriately to ensure a fair, unbiased, and transparent review and publication process. The journal evaluates all submissions solely on their scholarly merit, regardless of whether conflicts are declared. Manuscripts and related materials are accessible only to authorized editors and reviewers and must not be shared, discussed, or used outside the review process. The journal monitors compliance with confidentiality requirements and treats any breach as a serious ethical violation.
Reviewer Misconduct
Reviewer behavior is subject to ongoing ethical oversight. Misconduct may include, but is not limited to, unauthorized use of manuscript content, undisclosed conflicts of interest, inappropriate communication with authors, delayed or superficial reviews, or misuse of privileged information. The editorial office reserves the right to investigate suspected misconduct and take corrective action where necessary.
Manipulation of the Review Process
The journal actively monitors and safeguards against any attempt to manipulate the peer review system, including falsification of reviewer identity, coercive citation practices, coordinated review manipulation, or submission of fraudulent reviews. Any detected manipulation is addressed in accordance with Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines.
Where violations are confirmed, the journal may take appropriate actions including rejection of the manuscript, retraction of published work, removal of reviewers from the database, and notification of relevant institutions or authorities as appropriate.
6. POLICY ON EDITORIAL INDEPENDENCE

The notice will be clearly identified, linked to the original article, and remain part of the publication record. Following the completion of the investigation, it may be replaced by a correction, retraction, or removed, depending on the outcome. Journal of Integrated Socio-Economic Systems and Islamic Finance (JISSIF) follows relevant Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines in handling Expressions of Concern.
b. ARTICLE CORRECTION
Journal of Integrated Socio-Economic Systems and Islamic Finance (JISSIF) editorial team strives to ensure that all published articles are accurate, complete, and reliably citable. However, if an author identifies a significant scientific or factual error in a published article that may affect the validity or interpretation of the work, the author is required to promptly notify Journal of Integrated Socio-Economic Systems and Islamic Finance (JISSIF) or publisher via email.
Upon receipt of such notification, the editorial office will forward the matter to the relevant editors for evaluation of the nature and extent of the required correction and its potential impact on the scholarly record. Authors are expected to cooperate fully and respond to any queries raised during this process.
Where a correction is deemed necessary and approved by the Editor-in-Chief, appropriate action will be taken to preserve the integrity and transparency of the publication. Readers will be informed through a formal post-publication notice, such as an Erratum or Corrigendum, which will be permanently linked to the original article. In cases where errors are considered to significantly compromise the scientific record or the reputation of Journal of Integrated Socio-Economic Systems and Islamic Finance (JISSIF), additional measures may be taken.
All correction procedures follow the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines.
c. POLICY ON ARTICLE RETRACTION
The journal is committed to maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record and follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in all retraction cases.
An article may be retracted when it is determined that its findings are unreliable due to misconduct or honest error, or when it violates ethical publishing standards. Grounds for retraction include, but are not limited to, data fabrication or falsification, plagiarism, duplicate publication, serious methodological errors, unethical research practices, or failure to obtain required ethical approvals or informed consent.
Retraction is carried out to correct the literature and ensure transparency, not to remove the historical record. Retracted articles will remain available on the journal’s website and will be clearly marked as “Retracted” on each page. A formal retraction notice will be published and permanently linked to the original article, clearly stating the reason for retraction.
Retraction decisions are approved by the Editor-in-Chief following investigation and in accordance with COPE procedures. Authors, institutions, or relevant stakeholders may be consulted during the process where appropriate.
d. POLICY ON ARTICLE REMOVAL
Article removal is an exceptional measure applied only in rare and legally or ethically justified circumstances where continued availability of a published article would cause significant harm or violate legal obligations.
An article may be removed from the journal’s online platform in cases such as defamation, infringement of legal rights, court orders, serious risks to public health or safety, copyright violations that cannot be resolved through correction, or other urgent legal or ethical requirements.
When an article is removed, the full text is permanently withdrawn from public access. However, the bibliographic information (such as title and authorship) will be retained, accompanied by a formal removal notice explaining the reason for removal, unless legal restrictions prevent disclosure.
All removal decisions are made by the Editor-in-Chief in consultation with the publisher and, where appropriate, legal or institutional authorities. The journal follows COPE guidelines to ensure that removal actions are transparent, justified, and limited to exceptional cases only.
8. Post-Publication Discussion (PPD) Policy:
Journal of Integrated Socio-Economic Systems and Islamic Finance (JISSIF) encourages post-publication discussion as part of ongoing scholarly dialogue. Readers may submit short letters with comments on a published article, Critique of methodology, Alternative interpretation of findings or clarification request. Submissions deemed constructive and relevant may be published alongside responses from the original authors. Where appropriate, the original authors may be invited to submit a response and concerns raised through post-publication discussion may result in corrections, clarifications, or other editorial actions.
9. Appeals & Complaints Policy:
Journal of Integrated Socio-Economic Systems and Islamic Finance (JISSIF) recognizes the right of authors to appeal editorial decisions. Appeals against manuscript rejection should be submitted in writing to appeals_and_complaints@nexusacademicpress.com and must clearly state the reasons for reconsideration. Appeals are reviewed by the relevant editor and, where necessary, additional members of the editorial team. As manuscript processing takes priority, appeals may require additional time for assessment. The decision reached after review of the appeal shall be final, and authors will be informed accordingly.
The journal also welcomes complaints regarding its editorial and publication processes. Complaints may relate to manuscript handling, reviewer or editor conduct, publication ethics, or other matters affecting the integrity of the publication process. Complaints should be submitted to appeals_and_complaints@nexusacademicpress.com.
All appeals and complaints are handled confidentially, impartially, and in accordance with the journal’s publication ethics policies. Where necessary, matters involving potential ethical or professional misconduct will be investigated by the appropriate editorial authorities. Complainants will be informed of the outcome and any actions taken within a reasonable timeframe.
